Whether you are 3 or 103, you're the right age to try something brand new or refine your current talents. With classes, workshops, and clinics in the visual and performance arts, you can be anything you want to be and find new ways of looking at life. The aco offers classes and workshops in the visual arts, theatre, music, and dance for everyone from pre-school to seniors.
Visual Arts ClassesSummer Art Camp ArtaRama Come join in the fun as a professional artist drums up the creative juices of children ages 6 to 14. “It will be the best art class to bring out your child’s inner Picasso.” Art-a-Rama art classes are designed for children of all abilities. Children paint, draw, sculpt, design, imagine, sketch and explore using a wide variety of materials and techniques, all in an atmosphere of fun and success!
Five Week Art Program Ages 6 – 14 Session 1: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Session 2: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Teachers: Eve Smith (morning) & Betsy Allison (afternoon)
Week 1 June 10th – 15th Kids on Canvas Students learn about painting on canvas paper, canvas board and stretched canvas using acrylics, watercolor, and ink. Students will be inspired as they learn the techniques, style and vocabulary of such artists as Renoir, Mondrian, Laurel Burch, Jackson Pollock, Modigliani, Warhol, Sam Francis and Frank Stella
Week 2 June 17th – 22nd Drawsters Students learn the mechanics of drawing that they then apply to develop one-of-a-kind artwork. Students will discover artistic styles, drawing tools and special techniques as they develop their unique creations
Week 3 June 24th – 29th Mix & Mingle Students will become immersed in fun themes that include: Time Machine, which engages children in Greek sculpting, cave painting and pop art; Media Mania, which features printing with tempera, acrylics and digital art, as well as Stampede, in which children create personal stamps, print with feathers, and experiment with Japanese fish printing. All focusing on Mixed media
Week 4 July 8th – 12th Claysters Students learn the wonderful world of clay that they then apply to develop one-of-a-kind artwork. Students will discover how to hand build and throw on a wheel.
Week 5 July 15th – 19th Dream and Design Students will learn the processes of basic graphic design and illustration! India ink processes, although with cartooning and storyboards will be incorporated into a fun filled week geared towards all ages
Sign up for one session or all day. Students taking both sessions should bring a lunch.

Porcelain Pendants: Come play with texture and design as you make your own porcelain pendants. We will explore different techniques of hand building to create wonderful and whimsical pendants that will be fired in a kiln for the most beautiful finish. Crayon drip painting: Come play with color, texture and design as you make your own painting out of melted crayons! June 12th; 6pm – 8pm Price: ACO Members $45/ Public $60 (4 Boxes of 24 Crayons Required)
Adult Open Studio
Figure Drawing - Open Studio: Open studio (gallery) with a live model. Come set up and draw with a live model in a group of artist at all levels. Light refreshments and drinks will be served. June 10, 24; July 8, 22; August 5, 19. 6pm - 8pm

Saturday Adult Workshops: Adult workshops that are created for any level of artist or anyone who just wants to have some fun. Classes may be used as Common Core continuing learning credits. Teachers will receive a certificate of hours at the end of the workshop.
Altered Boxes Workshop:Learn to turn found objects into mysterious boxes! You will learn all about Joseph Cornell and how he created these renowned boxes that are shown all across the nation. Supplies not included July 13th; 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (Lunch Break from 12:00 pm – 1:00pm) Price: ACO Members $65/ Public $85
Mixed Media Workshop:Learn to usedifferent artistic media: painting, photography, and collage, in a single composition or work. Different artists will be introduced during the workshop. Printmaking Workshop:Creative workshop day learning the techniques of printmaking. The history of printmaking will be introduced including intaglio, lithograph, and woodcut. Students will create a linocut and monoprint. All supplies will be on hand with an exception of the softcut lino blocks that will need to be purchased by student. July 20th; 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (Lunch Break from 12:00 pm – 1:00pm) Price: ACO Members $65/ Public $85
Dale Chihuly: Have a creative workshop day with learning new techniques of recycled art made into a chandelier. We will use empty water bottles, paint, and a swirl of pinning and pushing to create these gorgeous chandeliers that can be actually lit from inside if desired. Teachers- this workshop uses educational common core standards that can be transferred to the classroom. A certificate of hours will be given at the end of the workshop. Theatre Geeks Summer Camp Ages: 5th – 8th Grades Teacher: Danny Hobson Monday – Saturday June 10 – 15 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Jump start the summer and join this exciting camp for both newcomers and experienced actors! This unique camp will provide a wide range of specialized lessons including solo and group acting, pantomiming, stage voices, monologues & more. Private & Semi-Private Acting ClassesTime by arrangement, interview necessary for new students. Five consecutive lessons for actors in an intensive week long session. Music & Movement ClassesYoga Fitness Class Reba Squires Ages teen – adult Wednesdays, Time 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm Regardless of age or physical ability, everyone can benefit from regular yoga practice, which can improve and enhance physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
